I tried out an idea someone gave me...involving the color pink.
I don't often use pink, but I kind of like the general vibe of it here.
Also, there's shading now. Because.

I try not to post too much in-progress stuff unless I'm looking for feedback.
And for this, I am.
I know it's just a doodle filled in with base colors, but I am really unsure of the BG. I am afraid that if I make it a color or shade that the really nice thick-n-thin lineart will lose some of its contrast-y charm.
But also, not sure how nice it'll look just...white.
I will shade the character, giver her less of a flat look, but I am unsure of how much so. I like the flatness of the image, so i'm thinking low-opacity overlay shading, to make it less harsh. Maybe even just soft shading.
Anyhow, this is meant as a skateboard (probably longboard, since I can easily make a longboard version of this so far) design, so the small details are much, much larger and easier to see when its full res.
Oh, and in case you can't see, there's writing on the bandages on her left arm. The words say (or partially say, since some disappear around the curve of her limb, or are hidden by stuff) 'alone' 'ugly' 'lost' 'weak' and 'pathetic'.
Yes, this is social commentary. About the people society tends to ignore or look down on. The broken and the hopeless and the miserable.

This is not part of any contest, and will (eventually, when done) be available for purchase as a variety of different skateboard sizes.
Will post a link when that happens.

ps: I just love this girl's design, I will definitely base a character off it at some point. She was based of a random doodle I did in my FFAR class. Cutest doodle ever.
